Run the symptom diagnostic
The <a href="/tools/clog-symptom-diagnostic/">free diagnostic</a> tells you whether this is a fixture problem or a main-line problem. That single fact changes what the visit involves more than anything else you can tell us.
Find your exterior cleanout
A capped three or four inch pipe near the foundation or in the front yard toward the street. Working from a proper cleanout is genuinely cheaper than the alternative.
Note the age of the building
It is the single most useful fact for predicting what is in the ground — and whether the line is likely to be clay, Orangeburg or cast iron.
